Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY)

The Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) is implemented by the District Mineral Foundations (DMFs) of the respective districts using the funds accruing to the DMF.

The overall objectives of the PMKKKY scheme are:
(a) To implement developmental and welfare projects in mining-affected areas that complement existing State and Central Government schemes.
(b) To minimize the adverse impacts of mining on the environment, health, and socio-economic conditions.
(c) To ensure long-term sustainable livelihoods for affected people in mining regions.

Act Rules Scope Objectives
DMFT established under Section 9B of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2015 – effective from 12th January, 2015 The Tamil Nadu District Mineral Foundation Rules, 2017 At least 60% of PMKKKY funds to be used for high-priority areas like drinking water, healthcare, education; 40% for infrastructure, irrigation, etc. (a) Implement welfare and developmental projects in mining areas;
(b) Mitigate environmental, health, and social impacts of mining;
(c) Ensure sustainable livelihoods for affected communities.
